What are the benefits of TYPO3 Agency Meetup Days?

This year I am accompanying the TYPO3 Agency Meetup Days for punkt.de - and have just come from a great meeting in Utrecht. A total of 11 such Meetup Days will take place in 2015. In 11 different cities all over Europe. Quite an effort: not only for those who, like me, attend the meetings as official representatives of their company, but also for the companies themselves, who have to do without manpower for a few days. That is why I would like to show in this article what these AMDs actually bring. For TYPO3, for us as a company and also for myself.

AMD for TYPO3

In addition to the AMD in Utrecht, I also attended two meetings in Copenhagen and Frankfurt - and everywhere I went I had the feeling that the company representatives welcomed this opportunity to network and exchange ideas with like-minded people. Just like the TYPO3 Association itself. Because all agencies want to promote TYPO3 and can support the development process with their know-how and experience in direct contact with customers at various points.

TYPO3 AMD for the company

punkt.de invests a lot in AMD: My colleague Bianca Niestroj and I each attend four of the Meetup Days and are therefore absent for several days. Nevertheless, I think that this investment pays off for the company: on the one hand, because we get to know other agencies that face some of the same challenges as we do. I find it extremely helpful to exchange ideas with these agencies and tackle problems together. Secondly, because we have a presence in the TYPO3 community. We discuss how the TYPO3 market will develop. And working with other companies to advance TYPO3. To ignore the obvious competition and to focus on this one goal that unites us all. That is the spirit of AMD.

TYPO3 AMD for me

When I agreed to join AMD this year, I have to be honest and say that I was most looking forward to traveling around Europe and visiting many different cities. And being able to say goodbye to a colleague in Utrecht with the words "See you soon in Milan" also sounds like the jet-setter life. Unfortunately, the reality is somewhat different. I didn't see much of the cities I was able to visit during the AMD - but I did see a lot of hotel rooms, meeting rooms and airport terminals... Nevertheless, I don't regret my decision. Because I take a lot from the meetings for my work: Not just concrete offers like the one from Soeren Malling, who agreed to program a website for us. But also the knowledge of how to communicate to our customers in sales processes and competitive presentations why TYPO3 is the right system for them.

TYPO3 AMD for everyone

Whether for me, for punkt.de or for TYPO3: AMD is always worthwhile. It's not just me who thinks so, but also many other participants. That's why Meetup Days will continue in the coming years - and I can recommend everyone to take part in a #T3AMD at least once a year.
