Working at punkt.de - getting started and the first few months

I've been at punkt.de for four months now and in that time I've already taken part in the team days, the Just Do It Day, as a helping hand at a conference and experienced a project going live.

You had me at Hello, World!

It all started on a Tuesday when I started as a software developer at punkt.de at the end of April 2025. On my first day at work, I went to the office in the morning, where my team and all the necessary work equipment such as my laptop and other tools were already waiting for me. I spent the first two days getting to know all the relevant processes and tools and working my way through the well-documented onboarding processes step by step, so that by the end of these two days I was familiar with everything and ready to get started.

It was also ideal timing, because the next day I was already off to the team days in Bad Dürkheim with my whole team. The team days take place every year and are a kind of kick-off or team event. It was really perfect timing for me to start work. I can't imagine better starting conditions than getting to know your team over several days with lots of interesting workshops and, of course, lots of free time together.

Arrive and be right in the middle of it

In my first "real" working week after onboarding and the team days, I spent a few days learning and familiarizing myself with the current projects. In addition to my "learning ticket", I also had my first "real" ticket during the week and was therefore able to work on real projects right from the start. In addition to my actual frontend focus, I was also able to get to know some other areas, such as the Sylius webshop and TYPO3.

Speaking of TYPO3, the TYPO3 Developer Days were a special experience. As punkt.de is a sponsor every year and also helps with the organization, a large number of our employees attended the conference. In addition to several exciting presentations by my colleagues, most of us helped out as Helping Hands. It was interesting to see how committed the community was to putting this event together.

The Just Do It Day took place the day before the Developer Days. On this day, which is organized twice a year, the entire company meets in the Karlsruhe office and various topics and projects proposed by the employees themselves are tackled. Everyone can join in wherever they feel like it. We ordered pizza together at lunchtime and at the end of the day everyone presented their projects and results. It was definitely a very exciting day.

A start full of variety: work, conference and JustDoIt-Day

Overall, working at punkt.de is an ideal mix of interesting, varied, challenging and characterized by good teamwork. You have a lot to do with your colleagues, the atmosphere in the team is very good and there is always someone to help you if you have any questions. In the first six months, you also have monthly mentoring meetings, which provide space for feedback and personal questions in a confidential atmosphere. Hybrid working makes it possible to concentrate on working from home and still see your team on site regularly.

Conclusion: variety, atmosphere and a successful start

That's my impression after my first few months at punkt.de: the work is varied and the atmosphere is right, which definitely made it easier for me to get started. I'm glad to have landed here, I'm looking forward to the coming months and I'm excited to see what new challenges await me.
