Ardapedia is an online encyclopaedia about J. R. R. Tolkien and his works. You can now browse through thousands of articles and, as is usual in a media wiki, contribute content yourself.

The name Ardapedia is made up of Arda (the name for the earth in the language developed by Tolkien, Quenya) and pedia (encyclopedia).

Only recently, the operators decided that the site needed to be modernized from a technical point of view. Among other things, the aim was to be able to operate the site in a responsive design on a modern infrastructure. When we found out about the project at punkt.de, we were ready to help out with a virtual proServer and support the move. Through our sponsorship, we were happy to contribute to offering all German-speaking Tolkien fans a place to exchange ideas.

Our proServer

From a technical point of view, the project did not present any major hurdles for our proServer, as our innovative concept was created precisely for such applications.

Critical operating software such as the database, web server and PHP are maintained by us in a separate area, including security updates and dependency management. We install a suitable configuration for the application in order to be able to operate the application, such as the Ardapedia media wiki in this case.

More details about the proServer, both dedicated and virtual, can be found on the punkt.de infrastructure website.
