What is the "TinyPilot"? ....in a nutshell!
The "TinyPilot" is an IP-based KVM switch. Keyboard video and mouse are transmitted from the server to your browser and back via an IP connection (VPN, cloud, LAN or Internet directly). Based on a Raspberry Pi, the "TinyPilot" offers the possibility to access the server via browser.
As long as the end device has an HDMI, VGA or DVI output and provides a USB input, this hardware can be used to conveniently access the respective end device remotely via a browser. This means that servers or machines, for example, can be conveniently controlled from home. in its latest version, a simple power supply via PoE (Power over Ethernet) is also possible.
The "TinyPilot" is ideally placed in its own network and is then connected to the end device via the above-mentioned connections and you are ready to go. As the "TinyPilot" is controlled from the browser, it requires no additional software and can therefore be used quickly.

What does punkt.de GmbH have to do with the "TinyPilot"?
Due to Covid-19, some processes in our customer projects had to be changed. In one of our largest customer projects, it was necessary to regularly access local machines for deployments and work on them remotely without the possibility of installing additional software on these machines. So you actually needed a very long USB cable and a very long HDMI cable to get physical access.
Since many of our developers had to work from home during the pandemic (and are now allowed to!), we started looking for a suitable KVM solution and found that many of the solutions on the market were associated with high purchase and license costs, or wanted to install software on the local computers that took a lot of getting used to
But one solution was a little different....the "TinyPilot". Thanks to its low costs and ease of use, as well as the fact that the "TinyPilot" does not require a classic license model, it quickly won us over.
At that time, the "TinyPilot" was only available in the USA and so we had to order it there.... a lengthy process, as customs in Germany took almost 30 days to deliver the "TinyPilot".
The "TinyPilot" convinced us directly for our own project, so we decided to become a sales partner for the EU for the "TinyPilot" and to include the TinyPilot in our portfolio.
For you, this now means German-language support and we are happy to make our entire network know-how available to "TinyPilot" customers.
What began as a test project developed into a success story, as many companies recognized the advantages of the "TinyPilot" compared to the previous KVM solutions. Even after the Covid-19 crisis, more and more customers are ordering the "TinyPilot" from us.

The "TinyPilot" in the industry - "Automatisierungstreff IT & Automation 2023" in Heilbronn!
There are many areas of application for the "TinyPilot" in a whole range of economic sectors. When selling the "TinyPilot", however, it quickly became clear that demand is particularly high in industry and among automation specialists and their customers.
In order to get even closer to our potential customers, we decided to take part in the Automation Meeting IT & Automation 2023 in Heilbronn. As we originally come from web development and hosting, it was important for us to put out feelers and get to know this industry in person.
In addition to some good discussions with German SMEs, we also had the chance to talk to other exhibitors about how our solution could interact with theirs and generate real added value for operations, maintenance and collaborative working in the industry.
As the "TinyPilot" is a hardware solution, the boot process of a server or machine can be monitored and remotely intervened in case of a problem. It is also easy to install software and can be monitored after installation.
This opens up new possibilities for working from home and collaborating with colleagues around the globe.
In this scenario, the "TinyPilot" can virtualize an application, e.g. a machine control system, and discuss a solution with colleagues in an online meeting. The current problem can be shared with colleagues via "screenshare".
The "TinyPilot" is therefore the extended "HDMI" (and USB) cable to the home office. In addition to the image, audio signals are also transmitted, which can also make troubleshooting easier.
The fields of application of the TinyPilot are diverse and at this event in Heilbronn we were able to gain a lot of insights into the type of use for the "TinyPilot".
