Automation and data sovereignty: our approach to punkt.de

Automation is no longer a "nice to have", but a key factor in making processes efficient, error-free and scalable. At punkt.de, we have been working on this topic for many years - whether in content management systems, e-commerce projects or individual business solutions. We have a clear stance:

automation only works sustainably if the company retains sovereignty over the data.

Data sovereignty is not just a buzzword for us, but an attitude that we live by in all our projects. It is the basis for companies to be able to manage their processes independently, expand them in the long term and adapt them flexibly - without maneuvering themselves into expensive dependencies.

What are process and low-code tools?

Terms such as Camunda or n8n refer to process and automation tools that support companies in no longer controlling processes manually or using individual scripts, but instead using graphical models and reusable modules.

Such tools offer several advantages:

  • Visualization: Processes are mapped in clear diagrams that even non-developers can understand.
  • Standardization: Processes can be modeled according to international standards such as BPMN, making them transparent and comparable.
  • Low-code approach: Many steps can be implemented via configuration or drag & drop instead of having to program everything yourself.
  • Integration: Modern tools come with hundreds of interfaces to easily connect systems from CRM to ERP software.

This lowers the barrier to entry for automation enormously: departments can play an active role in shaping the process, while developers can concentrate on the really complex parts. And it is precisely at this interface - between business process and technical implementation - that we at punkt.de contribute our expertise.

Open source approach:
Camunda-7-Forks for
complex processes

We rely on Camunda 7 Forks (Operaton, CIB Seven) for extensive and long-lasting processes. They make it possible to map automation at enterprise level in an open source world - stable, expandable and without license requirements. This allows us to offer our customers a solution that can be maintained over the long term without them having to relinquish control. This approach is ideal for highly complex scenarios where reliability and standard compliance are crucial.

Flexible workflows with n8n

At the same time, we use n8n for lean and flexible workflows. Unlike many other SaaS/cloud solutions, the Berlin-based tool allows us to run automations in-house, expand them ourselves and host them completely internally. This means we can also implement smaller and more agile automations - without transferring data to external platforms.

Another advantage: n8n has an active community that is constantly producing new integrations. This means that the latest tools and services can be integrated quickly and easily, while the data remains under your own control at all times.

Cooperation with KEMB

Our collaboration with our friends at KEMB is particularly exciting. They successfully use n8n in the areas of business intelligence and lead management. Our automation projects complement their expertise perfectly: while we map processes technically and integrate complex systems, KEMB contributes valuable know-how in data analysis and the marketing environment. Together, we can offer our customers an end-to-end, data-sovereign automation stack.

More than just tools: Process know-how and integration

Automation is not an end in itself - it only unfolds its value when processes are truly understood and properly modeled. This is exactly where we come in:

  • We analyze the existing processes together with our customers.
  • We model processes in such a way that they remain lean, comprehensible and expandable.
  • We also integrate complex legacy systems or industry-specific software, which is frequently used in German SMEs in particular.

In this way, we ensure that automation not only works technically, but also delivers strategic added value.

Conclusion: Automation with attitude

Automation is possible everywhere - the only question is: how confident can you remain? Our approach at punkt.de is clear: we rely on open source, transparency and solutions that make you independent in the long term. Whether with Camunda-7-Forks for complex processes or with n8n for flexible workflows - we offer the right tools and the experience to automate processes sustainably.

And the best thing is: no matter what you decide, we support both approaches - and, if required, we can also develop hybrid solutions that combine the best of both worlds.
