First Steps and Experiences
Even during my first internship phase, I was able to gain exciting insights into the day-to-day work. First, I was given the opportunity to work on a small TYPO3 project to familiarize myself with the system and learn how to use it. Then I was able to work directly on client projects and gained my first experience testing web applications. During my first year at the company, as part of my project work, I focused on developing a solution for providing data for testing a web application. The best part was that I was able to gain my first hands-on experience in Backend development right away; it was exciting to understand and be able to describe it, and ultimately, this solution is still actively used in testing today.
In my second year of studies, I wanted to focus on front-end development without losing sight of back- Backend. I worked on multilingual support in TYPO3 as well as on smaller front-end and Backend tickets. My second project—on implementing Storybook into a client project—was particularly formative; it has significantly optimized our front-end development within the company and streamlined collaboration with our partner agency, made in. This project is also currently integrated into our teamwork, which is really cool—it gives me the feeling of having created something useful that’s actively being used and isn’t just left to gather dust.
Theory provides the ideas; practice puts them into action.
For me, what makes a dual degree program special is how the practical and theoretical phases complement each other. During the theoretical phases at DHBW Mosbach, I’m constantly gaining new insights and deepening my theoretical knowledge—whether in the areas of project management, development, or internet psychology—which I can directly punkt.de . At the same time, the practical experience I gain from projects at the company helps me better understand and contextualize what I’m learning in my studies. It’s also always important to me that the project work I do for the company is actively used by the team and the company, and that the research I conduct on these topics adds value.
Academic and Work Environment
The Online Media program at DHBW Mosbach regularly offers me exciting insights into a wide variety of topics related to online media, design, and software development. What I particularly like about it is that we have a lot of group work, which allows us to practice teamwork and complete many hands-on tasks and projects that we can also include in our own portfolios.
I also personally find the work environment really cool. When I started working at punkt.de , I immediately felt welcomed, and that feeling has stayed with me. I was integrated into client projects very quickly and was already able to take on responsibility for client tickets. I have regular feedback sessions to analyze my work and constantly set new goals to help me grow. The open and friendly atmosphere in the office is a nice complement to the exciting tasks I tackle every day.
Conclusion
After two years, my overall assessment is very positive: I’ve been able to learn a lot, work on exciting projects, and see my work actively put to use within the company. For anyone interested in hands-on learning and having a real say in the process, a dual degree program is definitely an exciting option.
