With the GDPR Manager, you always have full control over all data protection aspects. The software is continuously updated to meet European and global data protection standards—so you’re on the safe side. This makes Matomo the ideal solution, especially for businesses, government agencies, and organizations, as tracking and analyzing user behavior are becoming increasingly important, while at the same time the need for data protection and transparency is growing.
The GDPR Manager covers the following, for example:
Is it possible to track visitors on websites without using cookies? Yes, it’s possible with Matomo. This option is particularly useful if you—as a company, government agency, or organization—want to be very “data-conserving”—in other words, if you want to lead by example.
When tracking without cookies, Matomo generates a so-called “fingerprint,” which the software creates based on characteristics of the browser and device, for example. This allows visitors to be identified even without cookies. To further prevent data misuse, Matomo regularly changes this fingerprint. This preserves extensive analysis capabilities without the need to set cookies.
Another, even more privacy-friendly alternative is tracking via server logs. Matomo supports this as well, although some analysis capabilities are lost in this approach. With Matomo, you therefore have the choice between different options. In addition to avoiding the further processing of data for other purposes—as is the case with Google Analytics—tracking without cookies can thus foster even greater trust.
