First steps and experiences
Even in the first practical phase, I was able to gain exciting insights into practice. First, I was allowed to implement a small TYPO3 project to get to know and use the system. Then I was able to work directly on customer projects and gained my first experience in testing the web application. In my first year at the company, I worked on a solution for providing data for testing a web application as part of my project work. The best thing about it was that I was able to gain my first practical experience in backend development, which was exciting to understand and be able to describe, and in the end this solution is still being actively used in testing.
In the second year of my studies, I wanted to focus on frontend development, but not lose sight of the backend. I worked on multilingualism in TYPO3 as well as on smaller frontend and backend tickets. My second project work on the implementation of Storybook in a customer project was particularly formative, which sustainably optimized our frontend development in the company and facilitated the cooperation with our partner agency made in. This project is also currently integrated into our team work, which is very cool to have the feeling of having done something useful that is actively used and not just left lying around.
Theory provides the ideas, practice makes them work.
The special thing about dual studies for me is how the practical and theoretical phases complement each other. In the theoretical phases at the DHBW Mosbach, I am constantly getting new impulses and deepening my theoretical knowledge, be it in the areas of project management, development or Internet psychology, which I can apply directly at punkt.de which I can apply directly. At the same time, the practical experience from the projects in the company helps me to better understand and classify the content from my studies. It is also always important to me that the project work I write at the company is actively used in the team and company and that the research on the topics offers added value.
Study and work environment
The online media course at DHBW Mosbach offers me exciting insights into many different topics relating to online media, design and software development. I particularly like the fact that we have a lot of group work, where we can practice teamwork and complete many practical tasks and projects, which you can also include in your own portfolios.
I also personally think the working environment is very cool. When I started working at punkt.de i immediately felt accepted and this feeling remains. I was integrated into customer projects very quickly and have already been given responsibility for customer tickets. I have regular feedback meetings to analyze my work and constantly set new goals to develop myself further. The open and friendly atmosphere in the office is a nice addition to the exciting tasks in my day-to-day work.
Conclusion
After two years, I can draw a very positive interim conclusion: I was able to learn a lot, implement exciting projects and my work is actively used in the company. If you are interested in practical learning and real involvement, a dual study program is definitely an exciting option.
