Then it’s Just Do It Day. A workday when we take time for the things we’ve always wanted to try—but never seem to find time for amid our day-to-day work. That’s why “Just Do It Day” is always a mix of hands-on training and a DIY workshop. Here, we brainstorm, experiment, and develop whatever the day brings. And in the end, we get results that can be put to surprisingly useful applications: for example, a new dashboard that’s now in thepunkt.de kitchen, ensuring that no one misses the really important things—like the latest Twitter comment frompunkt.de. ;)

Six teams came together at the most recent “Just Do It” Day to brainstorm collectively. It’s a completely democratic process, since all employees can submit suggestions for daily projects. If a group forms around a topic, we get started. This time, that meant we took an in-depth look at ownCloud, Dashing, the Atlassian group chat “HipChat,” and also explored how to calculate release cycles even more accurately for our customers. In addition, as part of the “Just Do It” Day, we also created a new version of Quizduell (… though only with questions about TYPO3, of course) and an Android app with extraordinary visual and sound effects for kids. All we can say is: If that wasn’t worth it…
