Getting Things Done at the Marketing Sprint

Under this motto, the #t3MarketingSprint kicked off last Monday, May 18, 2015—albeit with fewer participants than planned due to illness. Fabian Stein kicked off the sprint after a group dinner. He presented the new style guide (beta version) for TYPO3 and also explained the work packages and the plan for the coming days.

Reading duration: approx. 2 Minutes

At peak times, 14 front-end developers, designers, concept developers, and project managers worked on

  • a flyer for TYPO3
  • a flyer for the Association
  • a keynote presentation template, and
  • a concept for redesigning the typo3.org website.

After it was announced on Monday evening that Neos was parting ways with the TYPO3 community, two agenda items—the Neos flyer and the Flow flyer—could be removed. (However, this didn’t mean we were able to complete more tasks than planned, since, unfortunately, far fewer people showed up for the sprint than expected.)

Our Results

By the end of the sprint, which began as early as Wednesday evening (instead of Thursday at noon as planned), we still managed to accomplish a great deal. The CMS flyer will soon be available in two versions: in DIN A4 format and as a foldable DIN Long flyer. We also created a flyer for the TYPO3 Association in both DIN A4 format and as a DIN Lang flyer. In addition, we developed a folder that can be used to collect and present multiple A4-sized flyers. The folder, together with the flyers, is intended to convey a consistent TYPO3 corporate identity and can—and should—therefore be used by agencies to present TYPO3. If needed, the folder can of course be supplemented with the agency’s own flyers.

In addition to the print materials, we also created a presentation template for Keynote (another one for PowerPoint is planned), which can be used for various purposes. Client presentations, talks, conferences, internal meetings at the Association, Agency Meetup Days, and other events organized by or related to TYPO3.

What’s next?

Once all print materials are available in physical form, we plan to publish them on styleguide.typo3.org. There will also certainly be another sprint, to which everyone is, of course, warmly invited again. After all, without your help, this sprint wouldn’t have been possible.

Our Conclusion

We achieved our goals and still had a ton of fun doing it—whether we were eating tarte flambée or making music together. Ask the folks who were there or check out the photos on Twitter #t3marketingsprint

And for the next sprint, we’ll once again need people who are interested in supporting TYPO3 and further strengthening the brand. So, whether you’re a marketer, designer, copywriter, or involved in marketing in any other way, get in touch with us and we’ll bring you along to the next sprint!

We at punkt.de would like to take this opportunity to once again thank everyone who made this sprint possible through their active support, and we look forward to continuing this initiative. We were particularly pleased to receive international support and hope that this will become the rule rather than the exception in the future.
