Once again, the year is slowly drawing to a close. There was a lot going on again. I'll summarize the most important things here:
New location
One of the biggest changes this year is our new location in Frankfurt am Main. This will ensure that we can continue to realize large projects for our customers without any problems in the future. Another reason for the office in Frankfurt is the existing collaboration with the design agency made in, which we want to further intensify and strengthen. And now we've been based in the same office since October, which means we can communicate with each other more quickly and efficiently on joint projects.
But the team in Frankfurt is still being built up and so you can still become a part of it, we look forward to receiving your application.![]()
Together with made in, we are now also organizing a "Digital Meetup" in Frankfurt on topics from our digital environment. You can register here:

New clients, and those who have trusted us for a long time
Anyone who knows us knows that we are not an agency that "hacks away" at one project after another, but rather enters into long-term collaborations. We have, of course, built many new features for our existing customers and improved or expanded existing websites, portals, digital applications, etc. For nph deutschland e.V., for example, we have now programmed the website in addition to the store. We have also acquired several new customers. Among other things, we implemented a modern website with Neos CMS for Volume Graphics from Heidelberg, and the TYPO3 website of BMG Labtech from Ortenberg now shines in new splendor.
To the case studies
New employees and rooted Punktlers
As in other companies, there have also been personnel changes at our company. In addition to new employees (permanent positions and working students) in our existing development teams, a new development team was also created at the new location. The guys from Frankfurt initially spent some time in Karlsruhe to learn the company's processes and support our colleagues. In the meantime, they have taken on their own customer projects.
But there is also news to report from colleagues who have been on board for a while. For example, we are constantly keeping up to date with technologies and trends on the web. New things can be tried out during internal Slack times, for example, or at the company-wide Just-Do-It Day. The last one took place at the beginning of December. There, for example, we programmed an Apple TV app and tried out the proServer in the cloud.
In addition, some newly acquired knowledge was certified. For example, three of our employees now have the latest TYPO3 certificate. And of course we pass on our knowledge. In the infographic above, you have already seen where we have given presentations. And next year, the first two have already been confirmed: at hallo.digital, Fabian Stein will discuss whether websites are on the brink of extinction. And at the Digital FUTUREcongress, he will provide insights into the benefits of a continuous relaunch process.
News from punkt.de hosting
Following the launch of our proServer last year, we have added Nextcloud hosting to our program this year and improved and expanded the existing product. In addition, we now also have dedicated proServers in our program. The proServer optimizations include the following:
- We can now offer the complete ELK stack.
- The proServers now offer Neos and TYPO3 "out-of-the-box" solutions with the latest versions.
- The proServer can be used in common cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Services and DigitalOcean). Others on request.

In the new year, we want to further expand our hosting services and will focus strongly on consulting and the operation of complex web infrastructures. Stay tuned. You will get a first preview of our new projects at the TYPO3 Camp Mitteldeutschland.
News from Neos and TYPO3
In the past, we have already supported open source products that we use for our daily work - e.g. through the work of our employees in code sprints, as core developers at Neos or as TYPO3 marketing leaders.
Since the beginning of this year, we have also decided to become a Platinum Member of the TYPO3 Association. This ensures that the development of the Enterprise CMS continues to be driven forward. From TYPO3 itself, we can report that the LTS version of TYPO3 8 and the first release of TYPO3 9 were published this year. You can download the new features on the right.
At least as much is happening in the Neos community. In addition to the third version, which was released at the beginning of the year and is constantly being improved, there is currently a major upheaval. With the newly developed React UI, the user interface has been optimized for the different needs of customers, made more update-proof and even more expandable so that both editors and integrators can do their job even more easily with Neos CMS. We supported this conversion. And on top of that, the LTS version of Neos was released on December 20, 2017, bringing several new features and improvements for editors, integrators and developers.
punkt.de Academy
What's new is that we now also offer training courses on various topics such as TYPO3, Neos, Scrum, etc.. We have set up an "Academy" area on our website for this purpose. We will slowly but continuously expand the offer. You can find more information here:
Haven't found the right workshop yet? Don't hesitate to ask if we can offer you just the right one.
What else has happened
We don't want to withhold from you that we are socially involved from time to time. In addition to donating rucksacks to effeff-ettlingen, we also supported TG Neureut in a DKMS fundraising campaign.
We also have two new social media accounts that you can take a look at. In our Slideshare account you will find slides from our presentations and you can follow our hosting account on Twitter if you are interested in hosting. With our new give-aways we inspire potential customers at conferences and trade fairs.
This year's company events included a Christmas party, a visit to the Karlsruhe duck race, a joint visit to the Christmas market, as well as attending camps and conferences. We also attended numerous trade fairs, some of them as exhibitors. And of course we shouldn't forget the internal team events that each team undertakes once a year.
So, that was my review of the year. I wish you all a reflective time, a wonderful holiday season and a great start to the new year 2018!
