Many of you may still know the DIGITAL FUTUREcongress by its former name, IT&MEDIA FUTUREcongress. The event is primarily aimed at small and medium-sized businesses that want to quickly and comprehensively learn about digital transformation.
Great conversations at the booth of punkt.de
A wide variety of exhibitors were represented, ranging from hardware providers to data protection experts, and from digital transformation consultants to providers of custom software solutions. More than 100 companies in total. And just like last year, we at punkt.de were also there with our own booth.
Throughout the day, we spoke with numerous interested visitors. In doing so, we noticed one thing compared to last year: The topic of digital transformation has now reached the executive and board levels. And not just as a buzzword. Management has recognized that it plays a central role in ensuring the success of digitalization and the accompanying cultural shift within the company. When it comes to developing new business models, digitizing processes, and tapping into new customer groups, everyone must be involved.
This led to some excellent and interesting conversations. While last year we still attracted some of our conversation partners to our booth with our sustainable bamboo coffee mug as a promised giveaway, this year virtually everyone approached us with genuine interest in our services; in some cases, even with very specific questions and problems. During these conversations, we were often able to provide initial answers and present potential solutions—thus demonstrating that we truly know what we’re talking about.
Continuous website development—one of our favorite topics to discuss on stage
But this time, we weren’t just there as exhibitors; my colleague, our digital consultant, Fabian Stein, took the stage as a speaker to present the benefits of continuous website development.
In traditional website development, a company’s website remains unchanged for an extended period of time, only to be presented to users with a new design as part of a major relaunch. New requirements for the website are sometimes collected over the course of years before they are finally implemented all at once. Some web trends never make it onto the website because they may already be outdated by the time the relaunch takes place. A continuous relaunch works differently: There’s no “Day X” when everything becomes new and better; instead, the website is constantly refined in small steps.
This offers several advantages: It allows the company to respond promptly to new requirements, ensures the website is always state-of-the-art, and enables continuous improvements to usability. In addition, employees and users don’t have to get used to a new design or navigation overnight; instead, they gradually adapt to the changes.
What’s more: Search engine rankings are maintained through continuous optimization, whereas with a “big bang” relaunch, they can suddenly vanish, sending the website into Google limbo—for example, because pages that previously ranked well are no longer present in the new version of the website or because links lead nowhere.
We could tell that Fabian had convinced his audience to consider the continuous website relaunch as a better alternative to the big “boom” relaunch, as evidenced by the increased traffic at our booth afterward.
We’d be happy to discuss with you how to launch a website project as a continuous relaunch. A one-day workshop—which we offer to clients free of charge at the start of our collaboration—is ideal for this.

New at the DIGITAL FUTUREcongress: Workshops
In addition to the roughly 40 presentations on the program, the DIGITAL FUTUREcongress also featured workshops on various topics for the first time. Unfortunately, we can’t say anything about them. Because as much as we would have loved to attend the workshops—the encouraging turnout at our booth made that impossible. Is that a bad thing? Well, we’re not sure if we should really wish to have the time to attend the workshops next year
