International Women's Day: Women in IT at punkt.de

Today is International Women's Day. Yet women are still underrepresented in the IT industry. At punkt.de, we want to change that—not least by fostering a culture that allows our female developers to reach their full potential.

As an IT company, we at punkt.de are committed to promoting women in IT. We want to employ women in all areas of our company because we believe that a balanced gender ratio improves teamwork, leads to a broader perspective, and ultimately increases team efficiency.

We are aware that, unfortunately, women are still underrepresented in IT and that few women choose to pursue this career path. We therefore strive to recruit early and initiate support programs at an early stage—for example, through the informatikBOGY program or Girls’ Day. We’re convinced that computer science needs to shed some of its “nerdy” image to become more attractive to women.

At punkt.de, we implement projects that touch on all areas of web development. Whether a woman wants to provision servers deep within the system, develop sophisticated JavaScript constructs, or improve the usability of our products: In our projects, everyone is challenged and has the opportunity to grow. This offers women the chance to further their own development. We don’t want to limit anyone to the role they were hired for; instead, we aim to foster their strengths and their ability to grow.

Benefits of punkt.de

  • Support for continuing education, conference attendance, and presentations by our female developers

Women Developers Develop—Themselves and Others

That’s why we don’t have any training budgets. That’s right! None at all! But of course, it’s not because we don’t want professional development—quite the opposite: We want to give everyone the opportunity to learn as much as possible and grow in their own field. Whether someone wants to go to Denver for a CSS conference or to Berlin for Beyond Tellerrand—we support that.

But we don’t just facilitate conference attendance or training courses. In recent years, our female developers have also frequently traveled to conferences as speakers. punkt.de supports this commitment as well by providing time off and covering expenses. It’s important to us to show that women can also serve as role models in IT and, through their knowledge and skills, inspire others to develop themselves further.

Within our company culture, too, we want to give everyone the opportunity to flourish. If you want to stand at your desk, you can. If you want to cook during your lunch break, you can. If you want to take parental leave, we’ll support you. Beyond what’s required by law, we create opportunities to work part-time or complete tasks from home—in short: to flexibly adapt the job to all possible life situations. We place a high value on personal interaction, and so far we’ve always heard: “We’ve found solutions for everything.”

Here at punkt.de, we value growing together. We want to bring exciting projects to life for exciting clients, and to do that, we need your input to move the company forward. That’s why you can consistently advocate for your interests in a wide variety of roles within the company and grow alongside us.

If this sounds exciting to you, check out our campaign for new employees!
