With the crosses from Ash Wednesday still on their foreheads, the TYOP3 community gathered again in the rooms of punkt.de. We were prepared and delighted with the lively response. The popularity of the meeting is growing and with it the number of participants. The talks were (still) only prepared by punkt.de - Ursula Klinger and Christiane Helmchen spoke about the as always very inspiring TYPO3 Camp Mitteldeutschland and Florian Kaiser talked about the experiences of punkt.de with the tool"deployer" a "Deployment Tool for PHP".

The event started at 18:00 and after a short welcome round, the #t3cmd topic was discussed. TYPO3 version 10.3 is on the horizon and after the presentation of TYPO3 10 at the last Developer Days in Karlsruhe, the LTS release is slowly becoming more and more usable. We have already had a look at the most important changes. Ursula and Christiane agreed that there were many important improvements, including the fact that IE11 is no longer supported in the backend; certainly a sensible decision to get rid of legacy issues, as Microsoft has also announced. Furthermore, additional Symfony standards such as Dependency Injection, Event Handling and Expression Language for Conditions are integrated into TYPO3. There are also improvements to TYPO3's FE login and menus can be built much more easily and with better performance with a new extension from Benny Mack.

After a short break, it was Florian's turn to speak. He gave an initial overview of Deployer and reported on his experiences to date. One of the main advantages of Deployer is that you can define your own tasks more clearly than in other systems and then replace them with existing ones. This is welcomed by everyone who knows that "standards" are useful, but that every standard has to be adapted within the scope of your own work. In his live demo, Florian delved deep into the technical depths of Deployer. As the pizza arrived a little too late, Florian was able to use every minute to explain even more topics. If this brief insight was too quick for you, we recommend that you take a look at the Deployer website.

As always, it was the mix of a Meetup that made it special: Clear TYPO3 topics combined the punkt.de with insights into the tools we use in our TYPO3 projects. This allowed all participants to broaden their knowledge horizons and take many new ideas home with them. The discussions over pizza and drinks after the official part were inspiring. This allowed further questions to be clarified and people supported each other with tips and tricks.

The punkt.de is looking forward to even more participants at the next planned TYPO3 Meetup in Karlsruhe in May. We will inform you in time.
