Sylius Meetup & K5X — punkt.de, Visits Berlin!

After a long hiatus, it’s finally trade show season again. This time, we headed to Berlin for a Sylius Meetup and the K5 Future Retail Conference (K5), the major summit of the e-commerce scene.
The goal was to think outside the box, keep up with the latest trends in e-commerce, and look for interesting solutions for our customers.

Many conferences and trade shows were canceled over the past two years, but things got back on track this summer. This time, we headed to Berlin to learn about the latest trends in e-commerce and get an overview of innovative solutions for our customers.

Sylius Meetup

It all started with the Sylius Meetup on June 28, 2022. Since we’re increasingly using Sylius on our client projects and are also an official Sylius Professional Solution Partner , it was important for us to attend the first Sylius Meetup in Germany, held in Berlin, to get the latest information on the Sylius project firsthand from the Sylius developers.

In addition to interesting presentations such as “How to Optimize Background Processes – When Sylius Meets Blackfire, which focused on debugging for Sylius, as well as a case study by Brille24 on migrating to Sylius, it was equally exciting for us to engage with other agencies that use Sylius in very different ways. In our client projects, we primarily use Sylius as a headless e-commerce platform for integration with TYPO3 and Neos.

K5 Future Retail Conference (K5)

The Sylius Meetup was immediately followed by the K5 Future Retail Conference (K5), held June 29–30, 2022. This summit of the e-commerce scene is a great opportunity for us to learn about current trends in e-commerce and build new connections with solution providers.

After several presentations, it became clear that the e-commerce industry is facing challenging times. For years, the industry had grown accustomed to high sales and steady growth, but now dark clouds are gathering on the horizon, and the sales boom of recent years appears to be coming to an end.

Creative solutions and strategies are needed to save the various business models. Using the right software—and using it correctly—can make all the difference here.

As a developer of custom solutions whose focus isn’t on simple e-commerce solutions, this broader perspective is particularly valuable for our consulting work.

Where are the solutions on the market headed? What clever solutions are already available? Which software is used where? All of this information feeds into our consulting services.

Of course, I also took the opportunity to speak with a few participants about our proServer hosting solution for Sylius and Shopware. Anyone who’d like to learn more is welcome to contact our colleagues on the infrastructure team at hosting@punkt.de.
