Hanover Fair 2025

Digitization in the industry is an important topic for us as an agency as well as for our clients from the industry, so let's go to the Hannover Messe to gather impressions and exchange ideas on site.

Why is the Hannover Messe relevant for punkt.de GmbH?

As an agency for custom development and open source digitalization, it is important to be where our potential customers are.

At the Hannover Messe, companies from a wide range of sectors such as drive technology, energy, research and development, industrial IT and the supplier industry come together.

The Hannover Messe is one of the largest industrial trade fairs and the best place for us to get into conversation and gather impressions of current trends and what moves companies.

In recent years, we have been able to convince customers from the industry that we are the right agency for them and we have noticed that the chemistry is right. Our down-to-earth, roll-up-your-sleeves approach coupled with almost 30 years of experience in development, infrastructure and hosting is particularly convincing.

Is open source a topic at the Hannover Messe?

Although the topic of "open source" is present at the trade fair, it feels like it plays a subordinate role. The majority of exhibitors with software solutions that I spoke to offer proprietary solutions.

On the one hand, this seems to have grown historically, especially in specialized areas for production and process management, people rely on tried and tested solutions. But ignorance about the advantages of open source also plays a major role.

Especially in specialized areas, there are good reasons to rely on proprietary solutions. However, it is precisely in the area of data networking and the digitalization of processes that individual development can score points with open source and reduce dependencies on individual software providers.

Be it in the visualization of complex data, the connection of different systems and the embedding in existing system landscapes. I would like us in Hanover to focus on countering reservations about open source in the discussion and allaying fears of change in 2026.

What are we taking with us?

What is immediately noticeable is that trade fairs still seem to be very important for the industry after the Covid pandemic. The trade fair was well attended and the mood was much better than expected despite the difficult economic environment. It was absolutely right for us to go to the Hannover Messe and talk to exhibitors and companies.

Felix Kriss from our partner agency "made in" was also able to gather valuable impressions and inspiration. What definitely stuck with us was that even in the year 2025, there are still companies that have expensive trade fair stands designed without making it clear who the exhibitor is and what solutions or products are being sold. We were somewhat surprised by this, and even at the stand we couldn't really get an explanation, apart from the odd buzzword bingo. Definitely an incentive to do better.

I'm definitely looking forward to Hannover Messe 2026, together with Felix. Maybe I'll see you there then?
