BoGy & Girls Day - Why Early Talent Development Is Important to Us!
It’s no secret that it has become difficult to find and retain good developers. In this regard, we’re in the same boat as many other companies, which makes it all the more important to identify and nurture young talent early on.
In addition to specifically supporting women in IT , we at punkt.de believe it’s generally important to nurture talent from a very early age. For this reason, in addition to apprenticeships and dual study programs, we also offer internships for college students and high school students, and we’re happy to have our experienced developers invest their time in mentoring the next generation of developers.
Through the BoGy program, we aim to provide high school students with guidance. For many, this is their first exposure to the working world, and we strive to give our high school interns the best possible start by integrating them into our processes right from the beginning.

Who is Jannik Oeschger?
Jannik completed his student internship with us in October 2021 as part of the BoGy program while in 9th grade, and he has stayed with us ever since, working here during his school breaks.
Jannik already had prior experience with Java and HTML/CSS and was able to jump right into one of our TYPO3 teams in Karlsruhe. He was mentored by our experienced developers Christian Keuerleber and Ursula Klinger.
What did you work on here, Jannik?
After a brief introduction, I was able to start working on React tasks on my very first day, in close collaboration with Christian. Starting on the second day, I began working on my own React project. I went through the entire process of a new project—from setting it up, through planning and sketching, until I finally got to the coding phase.
On the last day, I spoke with one of the managing directors of punkt.de about the week and my future plans; this led to a summer job at punkt.de. Since then, I’ve been regularly helping out at punkt.de during my school breaks.
During my first vacation block in March/April 2022, I worked on TYPO3 and an extension for one of our products, the “TinyPilot.” The goal was to transfer data from an order into a shipping label and customs declaration using a DHL API.
During the second block in August 2022, I expanded this extension so that it automatically checks the status of packages several times a day. In the event of critical changes, emails are automatically sent to customers.
This allowed me to contribute to specific projects at punkt.de that generate real added value and streamline the processing of “TinyPilots.” I really enjoyed this experience and learned a great deal.
What was your experience working with us?
I learned a lot about the professional world and how an agency operates, as well as how important it is to work together as a team. It was also fascinating to see how new projects are coordinated within the team and how the fine-tuning between team members works.
In August 2022, I also had the opportunity to attend the TYPO3 Developer Days in Karlsruhe (T3DD). The punkt.de was involved in organizing the conference, and I was able to help out as a “helping hand” at the event, which gave me a behind-the-scenes look at how things work.
How did you like it?
I especially liked the relaxed atmosphere in the office and how friendly everyone was with each other. I felt welcomed right away and was able to gain practical experience immediately. Other interns I know had a much worse experience—they were only allowed to watch.
Even when it came to how I was treated, I hardly noticed any difference between interns and the staff. During my first vacation block after my internship, I was immediately taken to the new office of punkt.de and shown around. Whenever I had questions, I could always quickly find someone who could help me.
At the T3DD, getting to interact with the other teams—for example, those from Frankfurt—was also very exciting.
Will you be sticking with us?
Yes, as long as it works out during my breaks, I’d love to!
