These days you can see many a year in review. You can find remixes of the best songs of the year on YouTube and Spotify, various industries publish their annual sales and statistics, Google summarizes the most popular search terms and various TV shows take a look back at the past year. In the article on the 20th anniversary, I already talked a little about what we achieved this year. I would now like to expand on and complete this report.

On the road to success in development and hosting

There have been some personnel changes in our three development teams. There has been a team change and growth in the teams - we have been able to recruit a total of three developers this year. Our technical team, which takes care of hosting, also has two new colleagues on the team. In general, a lot has happened in hosting. In addition to the launch of the new brand (punkt.de Hosting), we have also developed a new innovative product - the proServer. It is tailored to the needs of TYPO3 and Neos developers and offers more convenience than conventional hosting products.

In addition to four new customers that we were able to convince this year, we can also be proud to have won the TYPO3 Award with nph deutschland e.V. (a case study will follow). But we don't have to keep our other projects to ourselves either. Six of our customer projects have gone live this year with major changes, although for us this does not mean that a project has been completed. Our customers really appreciate the fact that we make it possible for them to implement new ideas for their web projects promptly and continuously through continuous integration.

News from the open source communities: Neos and TYPO3

We are increasingly relying on open source products for the implementation of our customer projects. And because we know how important commitment is for their communities, we have done a lot this year. Both Daniel Lienert and Sebastian Helzle are involved as core developers for Neos and not only take part in code sprints, but also invest their free time in further developing the system. In addition, they have set up a Neos Meetup for the Karlsruhe area to give Neos developers tips and tricks for development on the one hand, and to give users and customers an understanding of the system on the other.

Fabian Stein and I are active in the TYPO3 community. As team members of the TYPO3 Marketing Team, in addition to the organizational work such as planning the TYPO3 Agency Meetup Days (#T3AMD) and the Marketing Sprints(http://t3marketingsprint.org/), we are also responsible for driving certain projects forward. This year, for example, the launch of typo3.com, a TYPO3 standard presentation as well as support for the upcoming typo3.org relaunch and the alignment of the TYPO3 GmbH brand were on the agenda.

This is also what makes punkt.de special

Throughout the year, we not only worked hard to make our customers happy, but also...

  • Gave presentations at various events: from data analysis with Kibana, continuous relaunch and layout testing to more Scrum-centered topics

  • celebrated our 20th anniversary with a big party

  • Donated backpacks to refugees and associations

  • cooked for ourselves at this year's Christmas party and still had delicious food

  • received the kununu TOP Company and OPEN Company seals of approval

  • came sixth in the"coolest IT internship 2016" competition organized by AlphaJUMP

  • covered more than 10km in four hours during the company kickoff scavenger hunt

  • printed over 150 Neos-, TYPO3- and punkt.de-branded cable clips with the 3D printer

Outlook for 2017

Now we are full of energy for the coming year and you can look forward to new case studies on completed projects as well as the fact that we will soon be offering Nextcloud hosting. In addition to TYPO3 and Neos events, we will also be exhibiting at the IT&MEDIA FUTUREcongress and will of course continue to support our existing and future customers with their digital challenges.

And finally, I would like to wish you all a great start to the new year!!!
